Palace of Governor's Buffalo Roast & Mountain Man Rendevous
Santa Fe, New Mexico
Held every early August weekend since 1984; offers 30 reenactors in 1830s-era mountain man attire selling handmade goods ranging from iron smithing to jewelry to clothes. Buffalo meat is prepared and served. There is a charge for the buffalo roast supper.
The buffalo roast and mountain man rendezvous offers a glimpse back into the 1840's, as some 30 living-history enthusiasts take over the grassed courtyard of "el palacio", the oldest continuously used public building in the United States (built in 1609-10).
